Thornfield & Co
"I built this because Bark couldn't tell a restaurant from a construction firm — and neither could the accountant it sent me."
I run my own accounting practice, and I was using Bark like everyone else to pick up new clients. It works fine as a lead source, but it treats every accountant the same — sorted by postcode and price, no sense of who actually specialises in what.
That got me thinking: firms are specialising harder every year — construction, hospitality, tech, medical practices — but the way people find them hasn't caught up. So I started building Fettle: a place that matches on industry and situation, the same way you'd want to be matched yourself.
It's early. Every match right now is made by hand, on purpose, while the taxonomy gets built properly. Sign up below and you'll hear from me directly.
Generalist lead sites treat every accountant as interchangeable
A firm that's spent ten years with restaurants knows margins and till reconciliations cold. A postcode filter can't tell that apart from a firm that's never touched hospitality — a matching engine built around industry and situation can.
Generalist directories
- –Sorted by location & star rating
- –Same lead sold to 3–5 firms at once
- –Accountants sit beside plumbers & DJs
Multi-profession matchers
- –Accountants are one category of several
- –Some filtering, mostly broad labels
- –Depth stops at "small business"
Fettle
- ✓Accountants only, matched on both industry and situation
- ✓Firms show evidence of the niche, not just a tag
- ✓A handful of genuinely relevant firms
Two ways to match — industry, and situation

Industry, what's actually happening right now, and what matters most to you in a firm.
Get matched, not flooded
A short list of firms who already do this kind of work — not a bidding war.
Choose with confidence
Every firm shows real evidence of the niche, not just a claimed tag.
Help shape it — we'll follow up as it takes shape
Both forms send straight to Fettle's founder by email — nothing is stored or shared anywhere else. If your email app doesn't open automatically, we'll show you the message to copy across.
I need an accountant
Tell us your industry and situation — no commitment, just helps us understand real demand.
I run an accounting firm
Tell us the niche you've actually built. Firms that join during this early phase get a free, full-visibility listing for their first 12 months, counted from the first introduction we send them.
Before you sign up
Is this actually live yet?
Not as a running marketplace — right now every match is made by hand, on purpose, so the fit is right before anything gets automated. Signing up gets you an early, personal introduction, not a bot reply.
How is this different from Bark, Unbiased or VouchedFor?
Those match on location, star rating, or a broad "small business" label, and accountants are usually one category among several professions. Fettle only does accountants, and matches on industry and situation together — a construction firm switching accountant and a construction firm preparing for exit get different firms, on purpose.
Do firms pay to rank higher or get more visibility?
Not right now. Firms that join during this early phase get a free, full-visibility listing for their first 12 months, counted from the first introduction we send them. We'll tell founding firms well in advance what happens after that.
Do firms pay Fettle for introductions?
Not at the moment — no firm pays anything to be matched with you. If that changes, we'll tell you clearly at the point you're introduced, before you decide to speak to any firm. Matches are based on fit with your industry and situation, never on who has paid.
Is Fettle linked to any of the firms?
Fettle's founder also runs an accounting practice specialising in children's care homes, which is listed in that niche. If it could be a match for you, we'll say so plainly and always introduce you to other firms too.
What happens to my details after I sign up?
They go straight to Fettle's founder by email to arrange a match or a conversation. When we introduce you to a firm, we only share what you've agreed to share with them. Nothing is sold on or used for anything else, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.
